Adult Formation
Bible Study
Every Tuesday morning at 10:00, we gather in person and on Zoom as Mother Casey facilitates a study on the coming Sunday’s Gospel lesson. We start each time with two questions: 1.) what caught your attention in this lesson and 2.) what questions do you have? From there, we have a lively, thought-provoking conversation that welcomes different perspectives. This group is open to everyone, regardless of denomination or church affiliation or how much bible study you’ve done previously. If you’re interested in attending, contact Mother Casey.
Seasonal Studies
Throughout the year, and particularly during the seasons of Advent (before Christmas) and Lent (before Easter), we meet in person and on Zoom on Wednesday evening to discuss a specific topic, book or theme. These are low-prep studies, and we often begin with a meal or bring a dessert to share.
Cursillo Reunion Group
Cursillo is a three-day weekend gathering of clergy and laity who seek to strengthen their faith journeys through worship, prayer, music, study, and fellowship. Following that weekend, people meet in small reunion groups for conversation, reflection and prayer. The St. Luke’s group reunion meets on Zoom on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in participating, contact Larry Hannan.
Education for Ministry (EfM)
Education for Ministry is a 4-year course for lay people to increase their understanding of the Bible, church history, and theology. The program comes out of the University of the South School of Theology and involves reading the Bible and selected textbooks. Deacon Sandy is the mentor for a group at St. Luke's which meets once a week during the school year to discuss the readings and do theological reflection. Please contact Deacon Sandy if you're interested.
