About Us

The Beginnings:

The first services were held in Wamego in 1868.  On May 22,1870, St. Luke’s Mission was organized.    The church building was consecrated in 1900, the bell tower was consecrated in 1921 and the Guild Hall in 1925.  Since those early days St. Luke’s has worshiped and served in the community of Wamego.

Our Clergy:

The Rev'd. Dr. Matthew Cobb accepted the call to serve as Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in March 2008.  Father Matthew continues to serve as Director of Chaplaincy Care at Mercy Regional Health Center. Prior to working at Mercy he was Rector/Campus Minister to St. Francis’ Canterbury at Kansas State University. He and the Cobb family relocated to Wamego in July of 2009 in order to be more integrated in the life of St. Luke's and the Wamego community.
