About Us
The Beginnings:
The first services were held in Wamego in 1868. On May 22,1870, St. Luke’s Mission was organized. The church building was consecrated in 1900, the bell tower was consecrated in 1921 and the Guild Hall in 1925. Since those early days St. Luke’s has worshiped and served in the community of Wamego.
Our Clergy:
The Rev'd. Dr. Matthew Cobb accepted the call to serve as Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in March 2008. Father Matthew also serves as Life Transitions Guide at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan. Prior to that he was director of Chaplaincy at Mercy Regional Health Center. Earlier he served as Rector/Campus Minister to St. Francis’ Canterbury at Kansas State University. He and the Cobb family relocated to Wamego in July of 2009 in order to be more integrated in the life of St. Luke's and the Wamego community.
